Castleford RUFC Junior Section

Castleford RUFC Junior Section is the place to be for children aged 6 -16 who are interested in playing Rugby Union Football. Our rugby coaching is matched to the ages and the abilities of the players in different age groups, keeping in mind their physical and behavioural development needs, backed always with a sense of fun and an emphasis on participation.

Directions

From the M62 take exit J31
At the roundabout, take the exit onto A655 towards Castleford
After the Rising Sun Public House (on your left) and the Mexboro Arms Public House (on your right) the Clubhouse is just on your right after a block of houses. There is a large white sign on the fence.

Training and Matches

Training sessions during the season for all age groups training takes place on Sundays at 10.15 am and throughout the year on Wednesday evenings from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm (when during winter we train under floodlights). Matches are arranged on Sundays to complement training and take place at home and away against other clubs in the M62 corridor area and increasingly farther afield in South and East Yorkshire.

We are always looking for new players and all are welcome; from those who are absolute beginners and fancy something different to those with rugby experience; from those who want to keep fit with friends to those who want good match experience and at a club where the emphasis is on improving skills and techniques rather than winning at all costs.

Rugby is a game for all; all shapes and sizes and boys and girls and this ethos is put into practice at our club where we take time to nurture individual players without a “win at all costs” mentality. Sport is there for children to enjoy and we are looking for those who want the opportunity to play rugby so that we can channel this enthusiasm, build confidence and develop a love of sport and teamwork that will stand the players in good stead for the future; in this way we can contribute to and maintain a set of values and keep a tradition alive.
